Sale

North Carolina Spring Fever Sale cattle began arriving on Thursday and by mid afternoon on Friday all the cattle were penned. Sale manager, Tom Burke had a Virginia Sale on Friday night so he stopped by on Thursday evening and didn’t arrive back until early Saturday morning.
Saturday morning buyers began registering and with breeding update and sale order in hand they began viewing the cattle. A table was set up with silent auction items for the Angus Cattle Drive.
The sale began with lot A; three embryos donated by Castalia Cattle Company, Dr. Carm Parkhurst and Karl Holshouser, Castalia, North Carolina. The dam is Whitestone Forever Lady 455R and the sire is Leachman Right Time. The proceeds from this generous donation will go toward Junior’s activities. Marcus Harward, Rocking H Cattle Company, Richfield, NC purchased the embryos. Next auction items were desserts made by the Auxiliary and the flowers around the sale ring with proceeds also going to the Juniors.
Springfield Angus, Phil Goodson and Matthew Cox had donated ten straws of semen from their new bull, Riverbend Tailor Made to be auctioned for the Juniors, these were purchased by John Smith, Panther Creek Farms, Pink Hill. Thank you to Carm, Karl. Marcus Phil, Matthew, John and others for helping our Angus Juniors! They raised over $1,500.00.
Top selling lot was lot 5 & 5A, a cow/calf pair consigned by Keaton Vandemark, Vandemark Angus, Spring Hope, NC. An OCC Emblazon 854E daughter with an OCC No Fault 901C heifer calf born in October at her side. The cow was bred back to OCC No Fault 901C.
